Mailroom Clerk

  • Responsible for sorting of mails and ensuring they are well sorted for distribution to various places
  • Operate, regulate, and supervise the use of mailing equipment and ensure their proper handling
  • Ensure correct opening, logging and date stamping of incoming public inquiries and staff mail and also ensure that mails are sorted into traditional categories for distribution to appropriate units and staff
  • Perform identification, screening, separation, and preparation of files for both preservation and disposition
  • Identify error in filling system
  • Keep proper record of mail postage and delivery for the purpose of billing the mail service user
  • Arrange mail into pigeonholes of mail racks, boxes or into mailbags, according to mailing address, mailing center, organization, department or other schema and ties, and label mail for distribution to campus sites or U.S. Post Office facilities
  • Ensure the maintenance of productivity and quality in service delivery; confidentiality and security of mails; and record of completed work
  • Ensure the processing of mail using USPS approved postage equipment
  • Ensure adherence to laid down standard in handling suspicious mails.
