If you are looking for a job as home health aide, you would need to have an effective resume to present to employers. This is important to win the employer’s attention and get them to read the whole of your resume and give you an interview appointment.

There are several formats you can choose from when writing a resume for this position. Whichever one you decide to go for, make sure the sections are well written and are able to effectively sell you to the employer.

In this article, we will be working with a resume format with the following four sections: Objective, Core Competence, Work Experience and Professional Qualification, and we shall see how each section can be created to make the resume attractive to employers and hiring managers.

Now, let’s begin with the objective section, where you have to capture and retain the reader’s attention to read every part of the resume:

The Home Health Aide Resume Objective Section

The objective section of a home health aide resume is the right place to begin communicating your passion for helping patients recover fully by rendering compassionate bedside support, first aid knowledge, and excellent communication skill. Once this first impression is properly impressed on the mind of your prospective employer, getting an interview appointment is half done.

The objective section is your best chance to win the attention of the employer. And to successfully do this, you will have to appeal to the employers’ major needs for a home health aide.

And don’t simply assume their major needs; make sure you know what it is by observing the content of their advertisements for the job position.

You are most likely to find what is pressing to them that they need to hire a home health aid from the job description that goes with the advertisement for the position. So, use the information in making your objective statement.

This section is pivotal to your getting an interview, which opens the way to getting the job, because it aptly tells the prospective employer that you know what is of real importance to them and that you have what it takes to deliver on the job if granted the opportunity.

Here are two examples of objective statements for the position applying information from its job description:

Home Health Aide Objective Examples for Resume:

The examples below will serve as a guide in writing an effective objective section in your home health aide resume.

  • Seeking the position of Home Health Aide in XYZ Health Care Inc. where my exceptional ability to give patients compassionate and professional support in hygiene, feeding, medication, bedside assistance, first aid, errands, and companionship as testified by my previous employers and patients, will be employed.

Kindly note that the first example is applicable only when targeting a specific and known organization where such vacancy for the post exists, otherwise refer to the second which is a more generic objective statement for the industry.

The next section we will discuss now is the one that highlights valuable skills and abilities that you have, which will enable you to excel on the job:

Core Competence Section

The core competence section is where you are expected to highlight what stands you out as a home health aide; key talents, knowledge, abilities and experience.

The impact of a quality home health aide in patients’ recovery is undeniable, so employers always ensure that only those with exceptional qualities are hired.

Therefore, state clearly, your unique abilities such as compassionate bedside support, warm communication skills, and first aid, cooking and laundry abilities, and so on. This will strongly suggest that you have the capacity to deliver on the job.

The next section is for stating the experience you have acquired working as a home health aide or in related fields that will boost your effectiveness on the job:

Work Experience

The work experience section, also known as professional experience or work history, is a place to show proof of all you have hitherto said in your resume. Employers believe that your experience proves the fact that you have been tested. And after all, verification is just a phone call away.

Therefore, maximize this section by stating the duties and responsibilities that you have performed in the past or are still performing that are relevant to the job of a home health aide.

It is even advisable to use a copy of the home health aide job description when writing this section, however, you must be sure that you have actually carried out the duties and responsibilities in it.

And make sure all verbs describing your current work description stay in present tense while previously held positions remain in past tense.

And finally, we have the section where all training and educational programs that you have completed that are relevant to the position will be stated:

Professional Qualification

Here, your educational qualifications and all completed training programs that qualify you as a home health aide should be stated.
